It is said that Bhandarej is the same town as Bhadrawati mentioned in Mahabharat. Ancient Bhadreshwar Mahadev Temple is from that period. Besides farming people work with iron, leather and cloth printing. They also make fine quilts.

 

Bari Baoli

In the south of the village is a five story step well having typical Hindu architecture. It is similar to Chand Baoli of Abhaneri. It was built by Kumbhani Rajputs in 1732 AD. A secret tunnel joins the baoli to the palace.

 

Mehndipur Balaji Temple

It is an important place of pilgrimage to Hanumanji. The idol is part of the hill. It is known for ridding one of evil spirits and curing madness. Other idols worshiped are of Bhairav Mahadev and Pretraj. Tuesdays and Saturdays are very busy here.

Chand Baori

In eight century A.D. Raja Chand built Chand Baori. It is about sixty five feet deep with 3500 narrow steps with 13 landings to the water.

Bhangarh

This ancient city, now in ruins, was said to be ruled by Rani Roopmati and was cursed by a tantrik who fell out of favour with the queen and the city was destroyed overnight. It is said plans of Jaipur were designed like those of Bhangarhs.
